Commodore is the higher end, upstairs companion to Boat House. Don't have time now to really elaborate but our experience was great. I was a little disappointed that they did not have Pernod for an apertif. When I'm eating at a high end joint, I like my Pernod before the meal. The setting is wonderful overlooking KW Harbor. It's now in the summer and the AC was a welcome relief from eating at naturally aspirated places. Our service was a notch above adequate. Not impeccable. If I'm spending the dough I spent I expect a little more. But that's just me. When in KW again, in need of a high end experience, staying nearby, I would go here. There are other options of course and if I were staying in other parts of Old Town I would have not gone here. We were staying nearby so it was convenient.

Food was delicious the scampi shrimp and filet was perfect. So was the seafood medley. The Boathouse below restaurant had great Happy Hour with half price plates and drinks. Wonderful view. Sad our waiter was stuffy and almost rude. Had told Hostess our friends anniversary waiter made no mention of it. When I tried to tell him he did not respond and walked away.

Delicious meal. Below average service. I had the avocado crab salad to start- very fresh. My entree was the snapper and it was amazing. Very good flavor. Dessert was the chocolate lava cake and it was good. The server was very curt. When we asked for a beer that was served downstairs, he said he couldn't get it for us. Even though it's the same restaurant.... So, we went downstairs, bought the beer and came back up. Odd.

I ordered the lobster tempura, coconut shrimp, and conch fritters. Everything was super delicious and the service was great. Didn't get the name of the waitress, but she was extremely patient and sweet. Hope she has a great family vacation :))))!

Food was fantastic!!! Came here with a huge group of about 40 people (my co workers) for a school end of year trip. The soup. The bread and most importantly the PRIME rib was amazing. The service was great and on point given that it was such a big group. We had a great time and will definitely return with my husband next time we are in key west.

Five stars for the bartenders (on Wednesday) and the best Happy Hour we found in Key West. We only had the Peel n Eat Shrimp which were fresh and perfectly cooked. You get about a dozen large for $12.95 which is $6.50 during Happy Hour (Half-price well, beer, wine, apps). If you like craft beers they have a good variety. The mojito is very good but you might want them to sweeten it up a bit. A little extra simple syrup did wonders on the second round. Definitely a must for Happy Hour before watching the sunset.

Excellent skirt steak. Great service. Nice view. Decent prices. What more can you ask for?

A flight-attendant who used to live in Key Largo that I met while snorkeling that day recommended we go to this place. I'm so glad we did! The appetizers (yes, the entire appetizer menu) is half off at happy hour, and there are stellar cocktail and drink specials! You are right on the water - it's a harbor and we could watch the tarpons terrifyingly feed on the stuff the boats were tossing out. We waited a little longer for an outdoor seat, and it was very worth it to me. I recommend it if the weather is nice. A lovely little/big pelican hung out on the dock not far from our seat, posing for pictures and flirting with people walking by. Such a delightful way to spend an evening. The food was perfect and delicious and the cocktails made for a perfect sunset happy hour.

I was skeptical about this place after seeing the reviews but after finding out that Alonzo's Oyster House was closed for renovations until October we decided to check out The Boathouse at the Commodores and we were not disappointed. Happy hour was AMAZING! There is a daily happy hour from 4-6:30 where appetizers, domestics and wells are half off!! The coconut shrimp and lobster tempura were DELICIOUS! And the mango dipping sauce makes it a perfect combo!! The lobster tempura was small but it was the best thing we tried hands down! We also ordered some conch fritters which were the tastiest I had tried in Key West thus far! Our waitress was great. She was patient with our group of 8 and was extremely attentive to our many refills. We sat inside because they could not accommodate a party of 8 outside, but it was cool because we were able to watch some football since we were next to the bar. Outside seating is available for parties of 6 or less, so if your party size permits sit outside so you can smell the ocean, feel the ocean breeze and watch the chartered boats come and go. Your wallet and stomach will love the happy hour here, so check it out!

A great place to have dinner. I had the Surf & Turf and the Key Lime Pie. The meat was tender and soft. Perfect cooked and the Florida lobster was very tasty. The Key Lime Pie was the best I have ever tried and I don't like Key Lime. And you can bring your kids. No problem.

Cheapest place on the docks for Florida lobster tail. We paired the tails with a filet and mushroom appetizer cooked to medium perfectly. Good service. Fresh salads. I would return.

Went here at happy hour on the advice of a local. Great happy hour deals with 2-4-1 drinks and 50% off apps. We ordered 4 apps for the table. The Lobster Tempura was tasty and a unique treat. The Coconut Shrimp was fresh and cooked perfectly. The Conch Fritters were average. The Calamari was unfortunately borderline inedible. It wasn't hot and tasted as if it may have been sitting around for awhile. It was obviously made from frozen which still could have been tolerable if made properly. If I was going to reorder again, I wouldn't order the conch fritters or the calamari. We didn't order any mixed drinks so I can't comment. Service was average.

Excellent happy hour special. 1/2 drinks and appetizers. Staff is very busy and speedy with their service. Food is very light on grease and well seasoned.

The wife and I visited while on vacation as it was a strong recommendation from her Aunt who visits the keys often. We were NOT disappointed! We went during happy hour and ordered some small plates and everything was delicious. We had the peel'n'eat shrimp, steak skewers, tomato/mozzarella salad, conch fritters, fried lobster, and beer battered shrimp. It was all delicious and reasonably priced. They also have a very good draft beer selection. The staff was very friendly and the service was great. We will definitely visit again.

We had our wedding dinner at the Commodore in the private room & it was wonderful! The ambiance was cozy & elegant. John was our server & he took great care of our wedding party the entire night! They even had access to music so that my husband & I could enjoy our "first dance". The best thing about the Commodore was, without a doubt, the food! It was heavenly! All of our guests raved about the filet mignon, prime rib & mahi mahi but my personal favorite was the flavorful yellow tail snapper! I believe that Shadow was the chef that night & he outdid himself! We will definitely dine there again the next time we are in Key West!

Came here for dinner with my boyfriend after seeing the sunset at Mallory Square. He ordered the seafood platter and I got the shrimp scampi. He really enjoyed his meal, as did I; although I wish the shrimp scampi would have come with an angel hair pasta. The service is a bit slow, and the waitresses (at least the ones we had) were not the most upbeat, but they made sure we had what we needed. My boyfriend enjoyed his beer, but I was not pleased with my piña colada AT ALL. It was pretty much straight rum, and watery. It wasn't well made, to say the least, and I only ended up having a few (painful) sips before I couldn't not continue. We had outdoor seating and a view of the marina. They have big tables for larger parties, which is also nice. Overall, I'd maybe come back, making sure to stick to a Diet Coke next time.

Attended with a large party, the representative that assisted me with my reservation was very helpful. Everyone enjoyed their dinners, I had the Ahi Tina dinner, was very good. Another member in my party got the filet, looked great! The Conch Chowder was average and was red, would have preferred a cream based chowder. I would return again if looking for a higher end meal away from the bar crowd!

There are several similar establishments on the Marina, we ended up here on the recommendation of our B&B owner. We're not disappointed. Got a nice seat just outside with a view of the water and boats. Decided to go all in and get the seafood combo. Fried lobster tail, shrimp, grouper, and calamari. Quick swap with wifey (her fish for my calamari) and I was happy as a clam. Everything tasted fresh. The potatoes on the side were good too, but naturally they were lower on the priority list...I'd come for the seafood! Service seemed a little spotty though. That's the only thing keeping them from 4 stars.

What a great choice this p.m. for our did-din with my husband. The YELLOWTAIL SNAPPER was superb and so was the FILET MIGNON BÉARNAISE. Everything was delicious and were pleased with our server. Good dining experience for future visit to Key West and one we will share with our friends.

Nice enough food. Nice location. Great if you get a window seat and theres a storm that you can watch. Nothing amazing but safe tasty food and not small portions. In-expensive. Food seemed fresh.

Went to this restaurant with my family. Enjoyed the food. It was prepared well and was not only appealing to the eye but tastes great. The view was great. Where they fell down was on the service. The waiter (french accent) that was serving us was rude and snooty to the point that he made my daughter uncomfortable. Customer service is a big deal in this world. Your food can be this side of heaven but if your service sucks. I would rather just get a burger. Everyone else from the hostess to the people bringing the food to the table were friendly. The waiter just ruined my whole experience and I doubt I will return to spend my money here.

Great restaurant, great location, excellent food, fantastic Happy Hour deals. The coconut shrimp and fish fritters were exceptionally fresh. Probably the freshest shrimp I've ever had in my life. Good mojitos...the only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is because the restaurant seemed a bit understaffed. Our waitress was good, but she was literally running around the restaurant trying to take care of her customers-she did a great job, but could've used some help.

My boyfriend and I wanted a bit more of a fancy place to eat for a nice night out while in Key West. We found The Commodore via yelp and were pleasantly happy with our choice. I had the Mahi Mahi blackened while he had the steak. Both were great, although the steak was cooked a little bit above temperature. The restaurant has beautiful far wood ceilings and decor, and it's waterfront as well. We'll certainly be back for a nice dinner out next time we're in town.

A venue in two halves - bar on ground floor on harborside walk, restaurant upstairs. This review is for restaurant. Nicely appointed, good views, efficient service but food seemed uninspired for upper mid market price point.

Went there twice during my recent visit to Key West. Dined off of the apps menu as it was happy hour and small plates are half off. The peel and eat shrimp was amazing. Very large and fresh. Also had a couple orders of the lamb chops and the filet kabobs. Absolutely no complaints. We didn't experience any poor service. But we were in no hurry and were enjoying ourselves and the view.

Our go-to spot for afternoon and evening. Great happy hour specials with Commodore-quality food. Don't let crowd steer you away, if you can wait a few, it is well worth it. The lamb chops and caprese salad are great, calamari is light and not over-fried. Staff is friendly and atmosphere is great on the boardwalk.

We were greeted promptly and seated without a reservation. We came for lobster and filet. Both were excellent! Also we were surprised by the bread they brought to the table , it was delicious. Pricey, but it was worth it.

Great happy hour, the beers are cold And the fish is fresh. A little off the beaten path which keeps the cruise ship crowds away.

This place did not disappoint. The lobster bisque was delicious. The side salad had a nice vinaigrette with the right proportion applied. Fish was cooked wonderfully resulting in a nice, flakey yellowtail in a good sauce. The rosemarie potatoes were a delight. After the first dining experience in Key West, I am relieved to find this place.

I would normally give a restaurant like this 4-stars. The dishes were quite enjoyable. The steaks were cooked to our satisfaction. It has a nice view of a harbor. It isn't too packed with people. The only reason I drop it down is because of the attitude of the server. It wasn't "bad" service exactly... the middle-aged man with a French accent was attentive, but his arrogance and lack of care as to what we wanted made it seem like he'd rather be somewhere else. Everyone has a bad day, so I'll still award this 3-stars, but there are better places to dine in Key West.

We had just missed happy hour when we wandered in here but still stayed for a couple drinks, chatted with locals, got some tips on where to go from the bartenders and enjoyed the chill Key West atmosphere. The restaurant itself is very open and spacious and the bar is off to the side with seating almost all the way around and then some additional seating on the outdoor/indoor patio which overlooks the sidewalk across from the water. Great for people-watching and enjoying the afternoon. I definitely recommend this place if you are in the harbor and want a drink. We didn't eat here so I can't review the food and the rest of the service, but the experience we had at the bar made me want to return to eat here. The downstairs hosts the Commodore Boat House and the bar which are both casual/low-key...the upstairs is the Commodore Steakhouse which I believe is only open for dinner but looked very nice and has decent reviews. I will definitely keep this bookmarked for happy hour during my next Key West visit!

We went actually to The Boathouse which is located on the first floor of the commodore. Nice restaurant located by the water and boat piers. Has several tables and chairs outside and plenty of tables inside as well as seating at the bar.The inside is well kept and staff is nice. They have a full bar as well as several beers on tap. I started with the New England clam chowder and it was good. Had plenty of clams and potato's. Then I had the prime rib which came with your choice of fries or new potato's that are slice of roasted potato.I choose the new potato which were OK. It also came with a house salad, Au jous, and horseradish. Great views and good food.

*2.5 Stars* Commodore Waterfront was highly recommended by the concierge at our hotel. He recommended reservations. We were under the impression we would also be able to see the sunset. So 1. Not a good recommendation as I was disappointed with the food. 2. Place was empty on arrival and exit (but I guess still make reservations) 3. No sunset as the windows are on the opposite side. It's kind of tricky to get here as it's on the 2nd floor and you have to cut through another restaurant to get to this one. Apps - Conch soup for the lady and salad for me. Decent on both fronts. Entrees - Bone in steak for me. Seafood melody for her. I had about 1/4 of my steak and started tasting something metallic. It turned me off so much so I didn't eat the rest. My wife loved her dish. I tried it and truth be told it was good. We skipped dessert so we can go somewhere else. Service - Very good. Our waiter was very friendly. It was actually multiple waiters but they worked in unison. Prices - Steakhouse high prices. I would pass this place up next time I am in KW. So many other options (downstairs there were a couple of fun looking restaurants (one was even seafood). More casual.

Fantastic location, very open and perfect for the keys. The food was very good, we ate at happy hour and watched the charter boats come in and unload their catch. The only negative wad the sour server that did nothing to aid in our meal experience, grumpy and rude. There are way to many choices for eating out in key west I would not recommend this place as one.

The food was outstanding, we took the menu of the day, stuffed grouper with crab, lobster and covered with bearnaise. The restaurant offers spectacular views on the marina. The service was very professional and courteous. We had a very pleasant fine evening, we'll go back and will recommend this place to our friends!

This is my second time at the Boat House, ate here once for a late dinner, and today for something small to eat at happy hour. When I had dinner, I had the Panko crusted dolphin, although it was a tad heavy on the oil, delicious. My friend had the prime rib (and I tried it), delicious. The second time I suggested this location I was really excited to see the amazing deals they had for happy hour. 1/2 price well drinks, drafts, house wine and small plates. I had the conch fritters (which I had gotten before, flavor is great but this time they were a little more doughy, which I think is better than being all breading). I also had the fresh mozzarella tomato and basil salad. Flavor was great. Boyfriend had peel and eat shrimp. He said they were good but he's also had better. And to be honest there are places that you specifically go if you are seeking out peel and eat shrimp (for example, Turtle Kraals). But with options like filet and mushroom skewers, Thai chicken wings, baby back ribs, calamari, and more for $6-8 and $2.50 Stella Artois at happy hour, we will definitely be back.

Unfortunately Alonzo's was closed for the month of September so we tried Boat House & Grill, not as good. Anyone that knows about Alonzo's and their Happy Hour is the beast in Key West. We were told the Boat House & Grill has the a similar Happy Hour but the options aren't the best. The location is great and the vibe is nice but we will try again.

This is a happy hour review for Boat House. Can you say "No Freakin' Brainer"! Small plates, 50% off and the food was excellent. Writing this as I sit looking at beautiful boats with a cool breeze blowing through the bar. Filet tips with mushrooms, fall off the bone ribs.......outstanding!! With drinks $20, if you're in Key West this should be a daily stop!

Drove from Miami this morning and arrived to Key West starving. We selected The Commodore Steakhouse for a late lunch. My wife had the Coconut Shrimp (app) and Caesar Salad. She was pleased. "Just perfect," she said. I had the Blackened Mahi Sandwich. Juicy and flavorful. The fries are a bit McDonaldish. Overall, very pleased.

I thought this food was fantastic as did everyone in my group. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the prime rib because it was extremely salty but the delmonico was delicious. The bread was homemade and the wine selection was vast. It met all of my basic criteria for great restaurant. The only negatives were some of the other clientele were arguing at their table obnoxiously and nobody did anything about it and for as much as you have to pay per person... it should have been.

We've been to Key West many times and had never been here for dinner. We liked it so much we went back a second time! It's definitely a hidden gem as it seemed it was never that busy when we went. Food was fantastic. First night I had the Delmonico steak which came with mixed fresh, sautéed veggies and a baked potato (baked in salt.....SO good). Second time we came I had the bone in ribeye. They were very accommodating of my gluten free diet. It was a tad pricey, but definitely worth it.

I came all the way from Sunset Key cause I saw great reviews... However it was 9:25pm on Tuesday (they open till 11pm) when 6 workers just pass me and my friend at the front desk and didn't give us any sort of attention. That we decided to stop next passing worker and tell him that we would like to be seated! She went to check "something" as she said and disappear for another 5 min... Long story short - they simply said that they are closed!

3.5 Stars actually. This is where we had the reception for my son's wedding. We were upstairs in a smaller room but it was nice. Dark woods and lighting to match were the theme of the room. Now I will tell you that most things in Key West are pricey, this was no exception. However I see lots of food comments that make me wonder if we were in the same place. The food was very, very good. It was tasty, well presented, and at proper temps. I would give it the fourth star except for the parking AND bathrooms. Enough said. Still I recommend this place for events as they were very accommodating.

Visited twice during my recent trip - dinner then returned the next day for lunch. The conch fritters were great as an appetizer, and the seafood combo platter was a great choice. Decent wine selection, but the red wines are a bit warm (cellar temp IS NOT Key West room temp!) and we had to put the wine on ice for a few minutes to bring it to a good temp - the waitress probably thought I was a bit off for asking, but it definitely helped the wine out. My lunch the next day was consisted of a blackened mahi-mahi sandwich, while one of my friends went for the filet mignon béarnaise and wished he had opted for something else. They were have repeated issues with the fire alarm system, which I understand automatically turns off the air conditioning unit, so it was a bit warm by the window in the early afternoon. Otherwise, great atmosphere and friendly wait-staff on both visits!

The menu looked up our alley, being that we wanted seafood small plates to share. Went in, to whom the hostess was extremely rude, however the server definitely saved face on that end, what a sweetheart. We ordered the pink shrimp cocktail, filet mignon skewers, and the lobster tempura. All came out rather quickly, and we learned as to why, the filet bites were raw, and believe me, I love my steak rare, but that was worse then tar-tar. Then the shrimp was a weird color and had a spoiled smell, then, bit into the lobster that was also served on a skewer, then realized that the lobster was raw, including gobs of raw batter inside, and to ad injury to insult, the tail wasn't even deveined! And for those that don't know what that means, it's the digestive tract, aka colon, filled with feces exploded within the tail! After sending it back, was also then informed that the tails naturally come like that! Of course they do, that's why you devein them so they aren't filled with fecal matter!! For shame on the commodore to knowingly serve food like that!

My husband and I are locals we went in there for lunch, it took approximately 5 minutes to get a menu and then after another 5 minutes we never had anyone coming to the table to get our drink order. After 10 minutes we left no one even asked why we just walked out. As we were walking out a server was very busy on his cell phone.

  • Warren C.

Enjoyed dinner here very much. The panko dolphin was delicious, cooked very nicely, and my wife's kabab was the medium rare she requested (and kababs cooked as ordered are a rarity, I think). I wound up finishing what she couldn't and it was very tasty. And when our waiter, Karim, said he "forgot" my beer refill (I didn't think he forgot anything...it had only been about 3 or 4 minutes since I asked), my second beer was on the house! That I consider very good and conscientious service. And it's really a great location down on the docks. Great views with dinner. So, that was our experience at least. I'd definitely go back next time we're in Key West. I can still taste that dolphin!

Shrimp Scampi and Rosemary Potatoes are great! Great Coconut Shrimp half off at Happy Hour. The Piña Colada was disgusting thought, I never thought one could mess up a Piña Colada that bad. I love the location and the feel of the restaurant, but it can get pretty hot in there, they don't have A/C.

  • Yolanda Y.

Ate here twice during our trip because we liked the food so much as well as the atmosphere and the location of the restaurant. It's right on the water and when we were here the weather was pleasant so all the windows were wide open so it was like you're eating on a deck. The salads are fresh and well thought out. I got the kebob appetizer one time and that was alright, but what I really liked was the fish with fingerling potatoes. The drinks are good here too and the staff is excellent.

  • Amber S.

My husband and I had our wedding dinner here with a smaller group. Everything was perfect, from the service the food. Sat upstairs at the bar for a period and the bartender was an older man who told us stories like we lived there our whole lives. I really felt at home and will be back again!

  • Mike S.

This place is all about their Happy Hour. Make sure to order the Boathouse Bread (which tastes like pizza), Concha Fritters and a Basket of Fries. Great dock for people watching as the fish boats come in.

Don't judge me. Sometimes I'm kind of a red meat whore. And this particular visit is no exception. Maybe it was the wine, or the view, or the gentle ocean breeze running through my hair but whatever it was Mr. Commodore seduced me and talked me into having his meat baby. It was a love affair that was really never meant to be. Ill-fated from the beginning but any girl with a meat addiction would have been tempted. Yes I fell from grace but the meat was just too tempting, too delicious....too good.

This review is for the Boathouse which is a smaller restaurant/bar below the Commodore. Should have trusted the other reviews on this place. They have a prime location on the water, which is nice, but the service was slow and the food wasn't very good.

  • Sarah K.

The Commodore is a great place to have a nice and quiet dinner in Key West. The filet and vegeables were great and the service was good. Their wine list was somewhat limited, but other than that it's a great place with a great view overlooking the harbour. The meal was a little pricey, but well worth it. I

We were downstairs in the bar & grill. I had the lobster bisque and it did not taste like any bisque I had ever had before. Not really bad, but not really good either. We both had lobster rolls and I was shocked when I bite into it and it was spicy hot. Not what I was expecting. Probably why the other 2 places on each side of this place were hopping and nobody was in this place. Would have gone to DJ's Clam for lobster rolls but they were closed. Don't waste your time or money at this place!

Mixed review. I had the lobster cakes and thought they were terrible. So much filler that you could not taste the lobster at all. Came with soggy veggie medley and roast potatoes. On the other hand, boyfriend loved his prime rib. It's a pretty nice location on the water but I wouldn't go back and order fish.

We had a recent trip to Key West and we tried to check out different places rather than hit our old favorites. We tried The Boathouse at the Commodore (I'm somewhat confused by the name as its listed by different names on the building). Anyways, we had happy hour here twice during our trip. They have a great happy hour with their small plates at half price and half price beer, wine and well drinks. For happy hour food we tried the conch fritters, the cheesy bread (called chef's bread), the calamari, peel and eat shrimp and the fish bites over two visits. All were good but the favorite was actually the cheesy bread. And of course, you can't go wrong with the setting, right on the water in the marina district. But the service isn't great. As with many places in Key West the servers are foreign born and not well trained.

    (3)
  • Rob P.

For Key West, the seafood quality doesn't get much better than this, especially for the reasonable price. Since I was not too hungry, I opted for a "small plate" beer battered shrimp meal. Surprisingly, the plate was not small at all, as some other restaurants give you much less shrimp for full price. Additionally, I tried a bite of the yellowtail snapper, which tasted excellent, and the conch fritter appetizer was probably the best conch fritter I've ever had. One star was subtracted for speed of service. Although the food arrived in average time, the waitress disappeared for a bit, so the check took much longer than usual.

  • Kyle B.

Go for happy hour with the half price apps and drinks. For the price, it cannot be beat. There is a great view and it is great for people watching. We went to the downstairs portion of the restaurant, not sure what the upstairs portion is like.

This restaurant is the epitome of fine dining. The location is right along the bay, providing a perfect scene along which to dine and watch the sun set. The atmosphere was exquisite, with extremely knowledgeable staff and expert descriptions of the menu upon request. Our waiter, Giuseppe, recommended an excellent Merlot that paired very well with our meals. For dessert, we tried the coffee and key lime pie, both of which were superb- it seems that everything made here is done with great attention to flavor. We had an excellent experience!

This review is for the Commodore's Boat House Bar and Grill on the first floor of the Commodore steak house. The Boat House is New, at least since April 2010. In fact it is the first time I've ever seen life at this address which is a prime location on the Key West Bight. The Commodore has been around for years, maybe since they installed the bight "boardwalk" about 10 years ago. The Commodore was a stuffy, expensive, steak house from some other decade, and we were never quite sure if they were open. (Like Boo Radley's place in To Kill a Mockingbird). In contrast, the Boat House was a pleasant surprise - there were people present, eating in the packed restaurant and drinking at the bar. Reasonable prices, portions too large, service a bit clunky. Perhaps they were working out a few service bugs, but when one couple orders a salad and main and the other just the main, the salad comes first, then the main's unless otherwise instructed. Prime rib was well prepared, Florida lobster boiled and bland (please broil or grill!), catch was good but not inspiring. All in, this was good. Time will tell if they improve, but the fundamentals are working. I'll be back.

Food was okay, but we've had much better. The real problem was the extremely unfriendly and rude bartender. Perhaps she was having a bad night. We will not go back to this establishment.

The best steak dinner place!! Me and my friend had a great steak dinner tonight and we are both fussy meat eaters. We had the Fillet Mignon and they were perfect! The meat was tender, cooked just as we ordered it (rare and medium). The baked potato with a pot of sour creme and the vegetables were perfect to the meat. For desserts, I had the chocolate mousse which was again perfect. It melted in my mouth. So so yummy. The service was great, the dinning room is charming. The restaurant is at the water front so there are great views too.

Visited here with three friends and wanted a fancy atmosphere. Definitely has one, low lighting and overlooking the marina. Waiters very attentive and friendly and a lot of knowledge of the menu. Told one of my friends the fish she was going to order was just caught a few hours ago, so it was the freshest it could get. Good portion sizes, a little expensive, but seafood usually is. I definitely recommend this place for a classy, Key West dinner.

My brother had a destination wedding in Key West, and this was the site of their wonderful, albeit small reception. The food was delicious, the private room was perfect and the service was excellent. I would definitely visit again, and I would highly recommend using their private events services.

The food was not good, the worst part is 3 of 5 of us got the lobster tempura and all of us got food poisoning, to be fair none of the food was aweful but the atmosphere and location was great

Walked in with a group of 15 and were readily accommodated. Service was right there when needed. Apps heard no complaints from the group with kudos to the Nova Scotia oysters and the conch cerviche. The Tuna entree was one of the best I've ever had and done to perfection. Everyone that tried a bite rolled their eyes and wish they ordered. Beer is cold and available in pitchers.

Fantastic dinner, great presentation, classic atmosphere. Impeccable service. Our waiter Tom G. is by far one of the BEST waiters we have ever encountered. We actually pulled him to the side to compliment his skills. he was attentive and EXTREMELY personable.

Beautiful view of the harbor and very good service. The food was ok to good. We split surf and turf with filet and lobster. Both good but not great. The crab cocktail was fairly good but boring. A little salad is a must with meals like this and that was ok to good as well. The area is fun to go to, great views, and pretty decent food. If you're a foodie then go elsewhere but if you want the view and so forth then it's worth a stop. By the way, the key lime pie was very good and creamy.

I really liked this place, even though my own meal was so-so. I got lobster because I was craving it, but I forget that Key West lobster is not like Maine lobster. My sister in law's meal, though, was great. She had yellowtail in a white wine sauce--which I almost got and wish I had--it was really tasty! I had a fabulous dirty martini (very dirty) and for dessert, a great Key Lime pie. We sat outside by the boats, which was great for people-watching and watching the sunset. Definitely worth a trip here.

We were sent to The Commodore by our hotel's concierge, and we thoroughly enjoyed our food. The seafood medly was outstanding - the portion size was just right and it was well-prepared - and the bread they brought out was amazing. The room was a bit stuffy for Key West, and it was a pricey meal, but in the end, worth it.

Excellent Seafood! Right on the boardwalk facing the Gulf of Mexico, this place speaks for fine dining experience for those out on a date. The waiters are all friendly! Actually everybody is friendly in Key West! I ordered the Seafood medley. Had never seen scallops so huge and rich. The julienne vegetables add a wonderful touch to this dish.

Absolutely beautiful view, delicious food, and great wait staff. We had the delmonico steak and sesame crusted seared ahi. Perfectly done. Baked potato and wasabe potatoes were great. The only complaint was the fresh vegetables weren't quite hot. The staff were attentive without being pushy. We had a wonderful window seat and were given plenty of time to enjoy our cocktails and appetizer. This was our last night in town and we look forward to coming back to the Commodore.

So its really a 3.5 stars from my perspective. BTW this reasturant is technically called the Boathouse. I went there on my recent trip to Key West and was told about it by my hotel which was awesome. This casual dining restaurant is known for its seafood variety and quality. I was hungry and wanted to try a plethera of different seafood so I ordered the seafood platter which had shrimp, beer battered fried fish(snapper), and calamari. This came with a side of seasoned fries. We also ordered Fried shrimp and conch fritters for the appetizers. The appetizers were good and flavorful. Let me describe my platter. The shrimp were good but came with strange remoulade sauce that i didnt particularly like as it was a mix of something and tartar sauce, I would have preferred cocktail sauce for my shrimp, tartar or my fried fish and remoulade for my calamari. The fried fish was the worst of the three as it was very dry and just became like a desert in your mouth. The calamari was quite good with good textures and yet a crunchy outside to make it feel like good calamari. All in all, the food was ok, nothing great but not so bad. I did enjoy the view from the place and same witht he staff which was very nice. The location is on the pier so you are literally sitting on the water, its great. Good fun, Good view, Ok Food.

Walking around the boardwalk in Key West trying to find a normally priced place to eat for dinner somewhere we would not break the bank and we could continue to enjoy our weekend getaway and a place which ws in walking distance from our hotel "They Hyatt" we ran into this little place right under The Commodore Waterfront Restaurant come to find out is owned by Commodore and recently opened its doors in April. I was so surprised with the great casual atmosphere of the restaurant airy open to the dock no frills and beautifully decorated in the Nautical motiff which stands for Key West. I must say I was elated with the atmosphere, food, and service of this fine establishment. I had delicious fresh and flaky Snapper topped with a shrimp butter sauce served with herbed red potatoes and a salad. For appetizer we had Fresh fried Calamari with an incredible dipping sauce. My date (Fiancee) had an all deep fried platter which consisted of Lobster Tail, Fish and Shrimp, with various batters served with a fries and salad. We had wine and beer and the check was only $67 plus. Incredible that a place like that could have such gourmet fresh fish for a price like that. The server was great attentive and constantly coming by to check on us. We had sat at the bar for a drink while we waited for our table which wait on a Saturday (4-23-2011) evening was only 20 minutes. I would recommend anyone visiting Key West to drop by and have a meal there. As of today you wont find them on the internet, actually I called The Commodore today and "The BoatHouse" does not even have a dedicated phone number as of yet since they just opened in April! But knowing a whole lot about cooking, this place is DELISH and I am definetly visiting them again when in Key West!

The best food I had in Key West! I had the yellowtail snapper and it was amazing! My husband had the filet and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. He also had a small caesar salad and the dressing was really good and creamy. The atmosphere was really nice and we had a very attentive waiter. Go there!
